Anthony Perrelli Talks With Paul Harris (WLS AM) About Protecting Online Assets

Posted On 7/27/2009

Anthony Perrelli was welcomed back as a featured guest with host Paul Harris on WLS 890 AM. In this most recent segment, Perrelli talked with Harris about the importance of remembering online assets in your estate plan.

Aside from online banking and investment accounts with obvious financial value, Perrelli cites blogs, websites, Facebook and Twitter as accounts that are surprisingly valuable in their own right. These accounts also need to be protected when you die or become incapacitated.
“Everybody has a persona out there,” said Perrelli. “You don’t want the wrong person to gain access to these accounts and use your persona to your detriment.”
Perrelli encouraged listeners to name these assets in an estate plan, assign someone to be in charge of them and then give that person a roadmap on how to take control of these assets quickly. To pass on actual login and password information easily, Perrelli and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys both recommend using a flash drive that can be kept in a safety deposit box or using an online service like LegacyLocker.com
